Celebrating nurses everywhere

International Nurses Day is observed around the world on 12 May to celebrate and recognise the contributions that nurses make to society. This day is the anniversary of Florence Nightingale‘s birth, who is considered the founder of modern nursing.

We celebrate our nurses, now more than ever for their dedication to their profession and care for helping others. In the time of a global pandemic, we recognise and congratulate our nurses for everything they do and the sacrifices they have made to protect the health of others.

This year also marks the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife – set by the World Health Organisation, as it is the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale. Nurses and midwives play a vital role in providing health services to communities across the world.

We are also very grateful for our amazing nursing team here at Ormiston Hospital. This gratitude extends to our global nursing community, we know everyone is working hard at this time. If you know a nurse, let them know you appreciate what they do.
