Push ‘reset’

We understand that diet and exercise alone do not always work and weight loss requires a holistic approach. We get the struggle of being overweight and not knowing where to start, so let us help you today. Our patients push “reset” on their way of living and go on a journey towards a new healthier wellbeing.

No matter what your procedure you are looking into, you can take comfort in knowing that we offer an extremely safe and sterile private hospital environment for your procedure, with highly experienced staff who perform these procedures regularly. Your comfort and your privacy are paramount to us – learn more about our facilities here.

Find the right procedure for you

At Ormiston Hospital, we can offer patients gastric bypass and gastric sleeve surgery. Unsure on the right procedure for you? You can book a consultation with one of our specialists to further discuss your weight loss goals and any particular health issues you may have.

Bariatric surgery

Whilst bariatric surgery is not a quick fix cure, weight loss surgery is the only scientifically proven method for long-term and effective weight loss. We can support patients with both gastric bypass and gastric sleeve surgery.

Appearance surgery

An apronectomy, also known as a tummy tuck, removes fat and skin from your lower abdomen to create a flatter, more defined stomach.

Gastric balloon

A non-surgical approach to weight-loss. Our Orbera 365 and Orbera B2B gastric balloon procedures are an option to kick-start your weight loss journey.

The process: what to expect

We look after our patients over a 12 month period, with regular monitoring and nutritional support. This includes before and after your procedure. The journey to weight loss with OWLS looks like this:

  1. Consultation with a specialist surgeon. Here you will discuss your requirements and goals, and the surgeon will book in your procedure at a time and date that suits you. You may need to take time off work so now is a good time to arrange leave and support if required.
  2. Book in with a dietician
  3. Meet with the dietician to discuss your weight loss goals. At this stage, you may be prescribed medication or a pre-op diet.
  4. Meet with a clinical psychologist (online or in-person) from The Psychology Group in Auckland. Here you will discuss personalised strategies for both the preparation of surgery and success following surgery. This appointment is strongly recommended before your surgery and payment is made at the time.
  5. Take blood tests prior to your surgery.
  6. Payment for your surgery is due two days prior to your procedure.
  7. Your procedure takes place at Ormiston Hospital. Surgery patients may stay up to two nights.
  8. Three post-procedure follow-ups with your specialist will occur and you will work with a dietician over the 12 months following your procedure.
  9. Success! Your hard work and commitment have helped you to achieve your health and wellbeing goals.
